Community Service Day at Open Arms of Minnesota

On a beautiful day in September, the staff at 121 Benefits volunteered in the kitchen at Open Arms of Minnesota in Minneapolis.  Open Arms is a nonprofit that cooks and delivers free, nutritious meals to people living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities. We had a great time meeting the staff and chefs, and thoroughly enjoyed prepping and packaging meals.  Thank you Open Arms for giving us this opportunity to help out our neighbors in need.

Here are a few fun stats and details about some of the tasks we accomplished that day!

  • Packaged 800 Chicken with Gravy and Mashed Potatoes meals
  • Chopped 75 pounds of onions for French onion soup
  • Packaged 98 cups of candied ginger for nausea care packs
  • Diced 15 pounds of bell peppers
  • Packaged 221 Chocolate Chip cookies
  • Packaged 113 Snickerdoodle cookies
  • Ate 0 of the cookies we packaged!
